Frequently Asked Questions
We've put together some commonly asked questions to give you more information about Adventure Bike Rides and what we offer.
Yes, you will be riding on one of our own bikes. We have a fleet that consists of BMW R1200GS plus two smaller bikes – a BMW F800GS and a BMW G310GS that are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Unless agreed otherwise, our registration times are:
- Blue Run, Lincolnshire Ride: 09:30
- Yorkshire Road Run: 09:30
- Half-Day Run: 08.30
Please note that due to the uncertain nature of the British weather, we might need to reschedule the day. If you have any concerns, please call us on 01652 462067
You do indeed!
To participate in an Adventure Bike Ride, you must have a full, valid UK motorcycle licence which you must have held for over a year, with no conviction within the last five years for any driving offence involving drink or drugs or that resulted in a driving disqualification.
You must also be aged between 25 and 70 years old to take part.
Yes, at sign-on we will require your licence and national insurance number.
Failure to provide either will mean that you will not be allowed to participate.
We don’t currently provide any protective gear, so you will need to bring:
- a helmet (ECE 22.05 or equivalent)
- a good pair of boots offering rigid support around the ankle
- road/touring jacket and trousers (waterproof preferable).
Remember, it is your safety that is paramount above anything else. If you would like advice on the right gear, please feel free to contact us.
If you’re on a part off-road run, most likely, but that’s all part of the fun!
If you’re on a road run, on the other hand, your wetness and muckiness will depend on the weather.
Absolutely not, you’re here to enjoy yourself.
If you’re uncomfortable with any aspect of the ride, we will of course stop and go on an alternative route.
You can cancel your booking for a full refund up to 72 hours before your slot. After that period, we’ll deduct 10% of the total booking fee from your refund to cover our costs.
Not at all! Everything from your bike and comprehensive insurance, right through to your fuel, food & drink and guide, is covered in your cost. All you have to do is turn up and enjoy the day!
Our fleet consists of BMW R1200GSs, so you can rest assured that you will get to experience a top-class motorcycle. If you’d prefer something a little tamer, we currently have one BMW F800GSA and a BMW G310GS which can be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis (just leave a note at checkout).
We provide a radio comms system so that the guide can give instructions and advice during the ride; for clarity and to avoid confusion, your mic will be disabled. If you need to get the guides attention during the ride, key the mic button repeatedly or alternatively flash the bike’s hazard lights.
Our bikes are expertly engineered and reliable, so hopefully a breakdown will not happen. However, in the very slight chance it does, we do carry puncture repair foam with us, whilst our service vehicle – which carries spare wheels and a spare bike – is never more than a phone call away.
Our Road Rides could not be more perfect for you. These are the ideal routes to really familiarise yourself with an adventure bike before potentially buying your own. If you want to treat yourself, there’s nothing stopping you from testing the water (quite literally!) on our Road/Green Lane rides.
Probably not, we’re afraid. Although we would make you very welcome, each of our routes is designed as an introduction to Adventure Bike Riding, and has to cater for those who haven’t experienced it before.
Of course! We are currently in development with this, so be sure to keep your eye on our website for further updates.
